North, Central or Phu Quoc: Which Vietnam route fits a couple

Vietnam stretches over 1,600 kilometers from North to South, so driving between regions is out of the question. Most travellers choose one or two zones for a week-long getaway, or book a comprehensive Hanoi→ Da Nang→Phu Quoc package to see all three.

The North (Hanoi, Halong Bay, Ninh Binh & Sapa)

To combine any of these regions, we recommend taking a flight because road transfers take a lot of time which cuts right into your vacation time. A typical domestic flight from Hanoi to Da Nang takes 1.5 hours and costs roughly ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 per couple.

Phu Quoc 3N→ Hanoi 3N Package

Day 1: Arrive in Phu Quoc

Day 2: Parks and Light Shows

Best time to book Vietnam packages from India

Vietnam’s coast has two completely different monsoon cycles; there is always a sunny region to visit when booking your Vietnam tour packages. The best time to visit Vietnam from India is from November to April and May to August. It is recommended that you completely avoid September to November.

What to skip in Vietnam

A great holiday is defined just as much by what you leave off it. To keep your Vietnam package for a couple’s trip relaxing and romantic, here is our honest advice on what to skip:

• Ho Chi Minh City (Skip Unless You’re a History Buff): Unless touring the Cu Chi Tunnels and Vietnam War museums is a top priority, skip HCMC entirely. Trade the urban transit and bustle for the lantern-lit charm of Hoi An or the relaxing shores of Phu Quoc.
• Halong Bay Day Cruises (The "Rush Day"): Spending 5 to 6 hours on the highway from Hanoi just for a 4-hour sail creates an exhausting "rush day." When you factor in hotel check-outs and domestic flight logistics, it simply doesn't make sense. Choose Vietnam packages that include an overnight cruise instead for a far more relaxed, intimate experience.

How much does a Vietnam trip cost for a couple, and what changes if I add a third city?

A 3 to 5 night, single-region Vietnam trip runs ₹60,000 to ₹80,000 per couple land-only, or ₹1,40,000 to ₹1,70,000 with flights from India. A 6 to 7 night North plus South trip covering Hanoi and Phu Quoc runs ₹82,000 to ₹1,12,000 land-only, or ₹1,68,000 to ₹2,12,000 with flights (the typical Vietnam package cost for a couple 6 nights, Hanoi→Phu Quoc). Adding a third city, Da Nang, say, for an 8 to 10 night Hanoi→ Da Nang→ Phu Quoc package adds another ₹34,000 to ₹44,000 per couple on top, mostly for the extra domestic flight and transfers 

Is the visa included, what does it cost and how long does it take?

Visa fees sit outside standard Vietnam tour packages unless you request them. Applying directly on the official government portal costs $50 USD per couple. Alternatively, our team can process your standard e-Visa in 7 to 10 working days for ₹6,734 per couple. For last-minute bookings, we offer Express Visa processing ranging from ₹16,016 for 2 days up to ₹22,176 for 5 hours.

Do I need an internal domestic flight to cover more than one city?

All regions except Phu Quoc are connected by land but to save time we recommend taking a domestic flight. You can fly on VietJet Air or Sun PhuQuoc Airways. Adding flights and the accompanying private airport transfers will increase the package cost for adding another city but will save you a lot of time.

Is it better to choose the Halong Bay overnight cruise or the day cruise?

Both exist, but we build our Vietnam packages for couples exclusively around the Halong Bay overnight cruise. A night on the bay provides an unhurried sunset party, kayaking through quiet lagoons, and sunrise views. The day cruise is an exhausting 12-hour rush day with long highway transit times from Hanoi.

What type of visa is needed for Vietnam?

Indian passport holders require a single-entry Tourist e-Visa valid up to 90 days from the approved entry date. You must have a passport with 6 months of validity, two blank pages, a passport-sized photograph, and confirmed return flights. The only exception is visa exemption if you fly directly into Phu Quoc Island without stopping in mainland Vietnam.

Is travel insurance included in Vietnam tour packages?

Travel insurance is not included by default in our Vietnam tour packages from India, but we strongly recommend comprehensive coverage. We can add travel insurance directly to your package at the provider's actual policy rate. This simply requires a facilitation fee of ₹1,000 per couple plus 18% GST.

Can I get additional activities or custom add-ons included in my package?

Yes. Our Vietnam tour packages offer the flexibility to modify or add activities up to 14 days before your departure. You can easily add romantic upgrades like couples' spa sessions, private dining, or a professional island photoshoot with drone video. We also offer optional concierge services like flight web check-in assistance and form filling.

What are the additional costs outside of the package?

You should budget for any meals not listed in your plan, personal shopping, airline seat selection, and local entry tickets during self-exploration days. Additionally, all private half-day and full-day tours in Vietnam require an additional mandatory driver tip of $6 USD per couple ($3 USD per person) per tour to support local businesses. Airport transfers do not require these tips.

Will I get Indian vegetarian food and Jain food in Vietnam?

Authentic Indian, vegetarian, and Jain food can be difficult to find on your own in Vietnam. Standard local buffet lunches on shared tours also have very limited vegetarian options. To make dining effortless, every 30 Sundays itinerary includes a curated directory of top-rated Indian and vegetarian-friendly restaurants near your hotels.

Can Indian travellers visit Phu Quoc completely visa-free?

Yes, but only if you take a direct flight into Phu Quoc International Airport from outside Vietnam without transit stops on the mainland. If your international flight connects through Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, you must clear immigration on the mainland, which requires an approved Vietnam tourist e-Visa. 

How much cash should we carry, and are credit cards accepted in Vietnam?

Vietnam does not have any mandatory cash requirement, but we recommend that you carry around ₹50,000 (around 1.3 crore VND as of October 2026) for a 7 day Vietnam trip, but if you plan on staying longer do the math based on 6000-7000 per day. Yes, credit cards are accepted in Vietnam, just remember to use a credit card that has a low forex exchange rate.

What is the luggage allowance on internal Vietnam flights?

There are 2 types of flights, so luggage allowance depends on the one you choose. Full-service airlines include 20–23 kg check-in plus 7 kg cabin; low cost carriers like Vietnam Airlines often include cabin baggage only, so check your specific ticket.
